Eb-Lever left-right

symmetry with

Boehmclarinet (18/7) playing

1. analyse the difficult melody, test the easiest way left/right/supportfinger

2. sign in the best way with "L","R" ect. and play it 20times.

Eb-Lever: "full" symmetry means: There are two ways to play G#(Ab). Therefore, make shure that you change always the left-to right little finger. For example,

check play the chromatic scale: Begin with the right little finger with deep E , then left F, right F#, G, left G# ect. up to the Duodecime G#.

Then with the Oktave-lever from right B to the Duodecime D#.

Play this with the left pinky finger as shown. Here the example mp3.

Warming up:

Play this exercise legato, slow and in a good timing. Need control by metronome or a Band in a Box- file.

Here the articulation of Barney Bigard with his wonderful legato style. Put in some chromatic licks in your blues-impovisation ( here the spontanous chromatic blues for example).

Then, you need the swing articulation as shown, also in triads. Put it in your improvisations.

Staccato basic exercise

imagination: a ball i s falling, the time intervall shortened.

take your clarinet, make a long tone (begin middle G), tipp with your tongue-top at the top of the reed . Imitate the ball falling. Be aware that your gorge stays open, so that  the air-stream can flow constant.

important control: the breath remains constant-only the tongue -tipp interrupts the sound.

make this exercise with the chromatic scale up and down from the middle G. Play arpeggios from simple Chords and improvise in that manner over old tunes like " just a closer walk.." hear the original solos from "Georg Lewis".

mp3-intonation exercise

1. play the note... take  a control with a keybord

2. hear the mp3 and play the notes during the pause.

3. Need the app "anytunes" . Load any classical tune for example " Mozart" played by a master. Play with the master ( make it slower if you need ). compare your intonation with the master.

4. Technic: if there is any phrase you have technical problems, find the best way to practise symmetry, sign in L , R and *-------* ( supportfinger).
